Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder is a self-described Jewish and descends from Ryder's Jewish father. Uria Ryder is her younger brother. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County to California when she was 7 years old. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder who loved reading aged 12, became a bookworm because Ryder was not able to access television. Ryder aged 12 was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986, at the age of 15 older. Ryder was bullied throughout her teenage years. Her hope was that acting could bring change. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. But that didn't stop her making plans for her future. Her breakthrough occurred in the year 1988, when Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder kept playing successful roles in a variety of films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her part in The Age of Innocence (1993).
